Name of her father

[edit]

Juan as the name of her father is not a good version, because he is known as John I of Aragon in English literature. Juan Carlos I is an exception, not an example in naming. Sjostrom 23:01, 7 Jun 2005 (UTC)

French nationalist party?

[edit]

Yolande chose to support the French nationalists (for example, the Armagnac party) against the English and against the Burgundians;

This seems pretty clearly anachronistic in at least two ways: 1) referring to "French nationalism" in the 15th century; and 2) pretending that the Armagnacs were the "patriotic" party and the Burgundians the "unpatriotic party." Until the assassination of John the Fearless, at least, there is no particular reason to see the Burgundians as any less patriotic than the Armagnacs - the Armagnacs had actually called in the English first, in 1410, and John the Fearless's two brothers were killed at Agincourt. It seems clear that at the end of his life John was aiming to make peace with the Dauphin in order to concentrate on fighting the English - the party passions of the Dauphin and his Armagnac supporters in deciding upon his murder is what created the Anglo-Burgundian alliance. By the 1420s, the term "Armagnac" is probably obsolete - of the party's original proponents, the Duke of Orleans and his brother were still in English prison, and the old Count of Armagnac was dead. At that point it's really the party of the Dauphin (later Charles VII) against the English and the Burgundians. john k 13:43, 13 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
